I transferred to a Macintosh from my old MCS and Compugraphic Powerview 10 machines. I was keylining and typesetting in print shops and newspaper places and swithed to Mac when I worked at a museum. The Macintosh literally changed my career over the years.
But I remember when you could work on your own Mac in the classic environment, find a bug extension simply by removing extensions or control panels til you found the problem one and created my own sounds to add to the commands I used, programmed my own commands. In 1994 I got a 660 Quadra, one of the first to run videos, totally slow nowadays but sure fast then. It still worked when I gave it to recylcing. I created animaitons on it and played some cool short films back then. Still have the CDs from a set of a movie and some music that came with it.
I get a chuckle from Steve's last name. He's actually created the door to thousands of jobs. In fact if he hadn't passed and he wanted to, he'd be a fun one to run for president (though I think he was a-political). His campaign would be, "Want jobs? Change Steve's title to President Jobs!"
Don't know who the next visionary will be for Apple but I hope they continues to spread their cheery, colorful and playful innovations through someone with similar gifts. Though no one can really ever replace Steve. And in my opinon no computer can be as fun as a Macintosh!

Stacy, thanks for this. I share some of your design experiences and all of your love for all things Mac. I had a PC for a short time in the 90s when my kids shared the computer, and I ended up beating it to death with a sledgehammer. Seriously. I shudder to think of this world without Steve Jobs. Thanks for the link, too.

Sorry my comment got discombulated. The other memory was the sound when you dragged the disk icon into the trash, when you didn't have to use the paper clip to get a stubborn disk out
